Levis Laughing Song
The 1972 Levi commercial Good Morning World or Laughing Levi’s commercial jingles is one of those songs that will get stuck in your head for sure! The jingle is based on The Fendermen’s 1960 hit Mule Skinner Blues which can be heard here:
The Levi commercial, with some yodeling goes:
“Good morning world, I’m ready for you, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh, wearing my Levi’s, Le-he-he-he-he-vi’s. Le-he-he-he-vi’s, Haw-Haw, Le-he-he-he-he-vi’s “
The stop action video shows a young teen boy in a variety of colored jeans and shirts from Levi’s, from traditional blue to brown and red. The quality of the video, the best that is available online has been color corrected from the faded film stock.
There isn’t much information on the jingle or the commercial itself. One source says the jingle and commercial was produced by Mike Koelker from the Mad Man advertising team of Foote, Cone & Belding of San Francisco.
Kool Aid Commercial With The Monkeys
In 1969 and 1970 The Monkees starred in a series of Kool-Aid TV commercials, and some print ads. This was after Peter Tork had left the group.
Lays Potato Chips Columbus and the Indians
Bret Lahr starred in a variety of characters for Lay’s Potato Chips in the 1960’s. Lahr you may remember was the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz. Today we would look at this clip as being racist but in the 1960’s it was perfectly acceptable.
Virginia Slims Commercial
Virginia Slims were introduced in 1968 marketed to young women with the slogan You’ve Come A Long Way Baby. The cigarette much narrower and longer “tailored for the woman’s hand” according to the commercial.
Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley Duet
Two icons from two generations. Elvis sings Frank Sinatra’s Witchcraft and Frank Sinatra sings Elvis’ Love Me Tender. This was a Welcome Home Elvis show by Timex in 1960 to welcome Elvis home from the Army. It aired on May 12, 1960 on ABC TV.
When E.F. Hutton Speaks TV Commercial
The stock firm E.F. Hutton formed in 1904 gained fame during the late 70’s and early 80’s with the commercial campaign “When E.F. Hutton Speaks People Listen”. The brokerage firm then was bought out by Smith Barney Corporate Trust, and Citigroup. In 2012 E.F. Hutton was revived by executives of the former firm and Stanley Hutton Rumbough, grandson of E.F. Hutton.
Night Gallery
For those old enough to remember, Night Gallery was created and hosted by the great god of imagination Rod Serling, as a follow-up to The Twilight Zone. The opening was set in a shadowy museum, where Serling unveiled a dark and disturbing collection of canvases as preface to a highly diverse anthology of tales in the fantasy, horror, and supernatural vein. The first story from the 1969 pilot of Night Gallery, entitled The Cemetery. A black sheep nephew (McDowell, naturally) murders his ailing uncle (George McReady) for the inheritance, only to find some disturbing changes in the old man’s painting of the family graveyard. Some good acting as well from Ossie Davis. The night I first watched this I was all alone, mom was working late, dad was sleeping, and I was on the floor in front of the tv having the living daylights scared out of me. I just loved it!!

Hee Haw–Hey Grandpa What’s For Supper?
Hee Haw was introduced in 1969 and ran until the late 1980’s. Grandpa Jones was Louis Marshall Jones who was an old time country and gospel singer as well as a banjo player. Grandpa Jones was inducted into the County Music Hall Of Fame in 1978. He passed away in 1998 after suffering two strokes after his second show at the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 84.
