The Super Bowl Shuffle
The Super Bowl Shuffle is a rap song performed by the Chicago Bears.
The song was released a month before Super Bowl XX and actually made it
as high as #41 on the Billboard hot 100 and sold over a half a million
copies. This made the Chicago Bears is the only American professional
team to have a hit single. The song was nominated for a Grammy but lost
to Kiss.
The song made over $300,000 which was donated to the
Chicago Community Trust to help needy families in the Chicago area with
clothing and food.
The Bears did go on to win the Super Bowl defeating the New England Patriots by a score of 46 to 10.
Archie Bunker Alone
Archie Bunker’s Place was a reasonably successful continuation of All In The Family. Jean Stapleton, who played Archie’s wife (Edith), appeared in six episodes before deciding to leave the show. The show’s writers dealt with her departure by making Archie a widower. This is the conclusion of a special one-hour episode from December 1980 in which Archie had to deal with Edith’s death. Warning: It’s a tear-jerker.
